During the seventh match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad, bowling his first over in the match, Siddarth Kaul brought back his team into the match by picking up a couple of wickets to put Mumbai Indians’ progress to a halt.

After winning the toss, Kane Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain, put the visitors in to bat. Having lost their captain Rohit Sharma (11) in the second over, the Indians were riding strong on the back of Evin Lewis’ breathtaking innings. By the end of the fourth over, Indians had raced to 43-1.

Kaul celebrates after dismissing Kishan.

Kaul was called up to bowl the all important last over of the powerplay. On his second delivery, he forced Ishan Kishan (9) to play a slog, which ended up in the hands of Yusuf Pathan at third man. The wicket came as a respite for Sunrisers as they (Sandeep Sharma) had dropped Kishan in the last over.

On the fourth ball of the over, Lewis continued on his sublime touch as he hit a cracking boundary past the bowler. Kaul eventually got the better of Lewis on the last delivery of the over. Lewis, who perhaps wanted to make full use of the powerplay, attempted to play a wild heave on the last ball of the over. However, he failed to make any contact with the ball which ended up hitting his off-stump. Lewis scored an entertaining 29 (17) with the help of three fours and two sixes.
