Former India player turned commentator Ajay Jadeja has applauded MS Dhoni after his successful return as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. While speaking about him, the former Indian batter has said that MS Dhoni is a special emotion that is hard to put into words as well.

However, Ravindra Jadeja was handed the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings ahead of the tournament but he has stepped down after CSK played eight games and won only two. After that, Dhoni was returned as the captain and he had an instant impact as CSK won over SRH by 13 runs as well.

Despite the win, Chennai Super Kings remain in the ninth spot in the IPL 2022 points table, having secured only three wins in nine matches. According to Ajay Jadeja, though, MS Dhoni’s return as captain is good news for them, they are almost out of the playoffs race.

Sharing his views on the legendary cricketer, he said on Cricbuzz: “When Dhoni comes to the fore, it’s always a positive for the Chennai Super Kings. Earlier, it was the same case for India as well. He makes a difference. I am not saying that his captaincy won CSK the last game. It is not like Chennai have not lost matches under Dhoni. Players and captains come and go but a leader like Dhoni comes once in a lifetime. When he is in charge, he is something special. He has been doing this since 2007. If people haven’t understood in 15 years, what Dhoni the captain brings in, there is no point explaining anything to them.”

MS Dhoni-led CSK will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Wednesday, 4 May as well. However, the veteran also opened up on RCB’s leading wicket-taker this season so far. Jadeja said that Bangalore should start exploring other options too.

“It’s been 10 matches and Hasaranga hasn’t impressed with the ball. He was purchased with much fanfare, but in some of the games, he has bowled only two to three overs. I don’t think he has delivered to expectations. There are Indian spinners in the squad. If they want, they can change the entire calculation and bring in a pure bowler. Hasaranga bats as well but by the time he comes in, the match is over. Instead of Hasaranga, RCB can for go for a proper bowler who can support Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood. RCB are under greater pressure as they have more to lose. They are still in with a chance of qualifying but if they lose here, they may end up ruing the fact that they stumbled towards the end. For Chennai, from where they are coming in, it’s all plus,” Ajay Jadeja concluded.
