Veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra has hit back strongly at misleading media reports that falsely linked him to a domestic violence and dowry harassment case. Mishra, who remains unmarried, was shocked to find his image used in connection with a case he has absolutely no relation to.

Speaking to IANS, an irate Amit Mishra said, “It’s disheartening and disappointing. A completely fake story is being circulated using my photo. I’m not even married—how can I be involved in a dowry case? This isn’t just lazy journalism, it’s harmful. My family is shaken by this. If media outlets don’t rectify their mistake, I’ll be forced to take legal action.”

Mishra also took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice his frustration. “I respect journalism, but this is unacceptable. The news might refer to someone else, but using my photo is completely misleading. This needs to stop immediately or I will take legal steps.”
His long-time coach, Sanjay Bhardwaj also backed Mishra, expressing his anger at the false association. “Amit is unmarried. Associating him with such a story is irresponsible. Facts must be verified before going public.”
