Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday at the Wankhede stadium. Punjab Kings got all out on the score of 137 with the help of brilliant knocks from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Kagiso Rabada as they amassed knocks of 31 and 25 respectively. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers from KKR as he managed to scalp 4 wickets. During the chase, KKR got over the line after a small hiccup. Andre Russell came out all guns blazing as he played an unbeaten knock of 71 off just 30 deliveries.
Andre Russell was at his ferocious best as he smashed long hits and during his knock smashed 8 sixes and a couple of fours and played at A strike rate of 225.81. On the 4th delivery of the 14th over, Arshdeep Singh bowled a juicy full-toss to the Caribbean all-rounder.
As expected, Andre Russell did not back down from seizing the opportunity. He smashed a fiery shot down the ground with brutal power which left the bowler and the umpire ducked immediately trying to get themselves away from the ball. Fortunately, the ball went over the head of Arshdeep and the Umpire.
Here is the video of the fiery shot from Andre Russell:
The long-off fielder was unable to save the boundary even after attempting a full-dive due to the sheer pace. The Caribbean batter immediately went to Arshdeep and apologized. The shot got huge applause from the crowd and the teammates.
With KKR putting up such a clinical show, skipper Shreyas Iyer was mighty pleased and he expressed the same after the match. During the post-match presentation, Shreyas Iyer said, “To be honest, it was great to see Russell hitting. It was Russell Muscle. Umesh told me that he was getting older, but I told him that he was getting fitter.”
