The Ashes will show us a change which many had questioned for so long, the test players will walk in with their names and the jersey numbers on their back of their Uniform just like they have in One-Days and T20s where everyone recognizes a player at a fielding position due to his name and jersey number visible on his back.

According to the Guardian, England and Australia will be breaking the 142-year tradition in Tests. The proposal for the amendment has already been sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) by both the Cricket Boards.

One of the ICC officials also agreed to this proposal and said “not just England and Australia, according to our plans other Test nations including India will be playing with names on their Test shirts during the World Test Championship, said an ICC official.

He further added that ICC feels it’s important for fans to be able to easily identify players if we want more people to engage with Test cricket. Even former Indian wicket-keeper Kiran More showed his support this change saying “It is innovative and I don’t think it is a bad idea”
