5th January 2022 will be a memorable day for every Bangladesh cricket fan as the team went on to create history as they defeated New Zealand for the first time ever in a Test match in the history of the game. And, after this stupendous performance, the Bangladeshi players celebrated their win in the dressing room.

The entire team is in a huddle and can be seen in a jubilant mood. Also, the Bangladeshi cricketers were also singing a song that roughly translates to ‘ We shall overcome someday’. And, the official Twitter handle of Bangladesh Cricket posted a video of the same.

Captioning the video, the official Twitter handle of Bangladesh Cricket wrote: “Bangladesh Team dressing room celebrations following the historic win at Mount Maunganui.” Here is the video of the same: 

New Zealand batted first and posted a decent total of 328 runs on the board, with Devon Conway playing a phenomenal knock of 122 runs. Bangladesh replied with a total of 458, with skipper Monimul Haque top-scoring with a superb knock of 88 off 244 balls. Apart from Haque, Liton Das also scored a valuable 86 as well.

The New Zealand team eventually got bundled out for a meager score of 169 in the second innings, with Ebadot Hossain scalping a superb six-wicket haul. Bangladesh was set a target of 40 to register their maiden Test win in New Zealand, and they cantered past the finish line with 8 wickets in the kitty.

Ibadat Hossain won the Player of the Match award for his scintillating six-fer in the New Zealand second innings. The second and final Test match of the series will commence on 9th January 2022 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
