BCCI Asks Employees to Work From Home

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced BCCI to take another step in this situation as they have closed its headquarter in Mumbai from Tuesday with the employees were asked to work from home as all the cricketing operations already being suspended for the time being.

“The BCCI employees were today notified that the headquarters at the Wankhede Stadium will be as good as closed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. All the staffers have been advised to work from home,” a top source from the Board said to PTI on the condition of anonymity. “However, if someone still wants to come, they can.”

The BCCI has recently postponed the IPL-13 from March 29 to April 15 along with all other domestic tournaments which included the Irani Cup and the Women’s domestic season as well. India has registered 114 positive cases with two death count so far. The global death count has crossed 6,000 already and the number of infected people is over 160,000.

Not only in India but also in the world, many companies have asked their employees to work from home in these tough times and the BCCI has taken the same way. Moreover, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has also suspended its various zonal camps. On the other hand, the IPL franchises have also postponed their pre-tournament training camps.

“Keeping in mind the health and safety of everyone involved, the RCB Training Camp scheduled to start on the 21st of March has been deferred until further notice. We request everyone to follow the guidelines provided by the Health Ministry and stay safe,” RCB tweeted.

A curtailed IPL could be an option for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League which was discussed at Saturday’s meeting between BCCI and the eight IPL franchise owners amid the COVID-19 pandemic even as Kings XI Punjab’s Ness Wadia said that he doesn’t know when it will begin. as per the decision, IPL will begin from April 15 instead of March 29.
