After losing comprehensively to Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians had this second chance to get into the IPL Final of 2017. They faced Kolkata Knight Riders on 19th May 2017 and defeated them in a stellar fashion. So they would once again face the Pune team and defeat them this time to lift the trophy.  In this match, Mumbai defeated Kolkata with 33 balls remaining.

India A
Karn Sharma

The start of the match was full of aggression from Mumbai Indians. Fiery Aussie bowler Mitchell Johnson bowled a fast first over and conceded only three runs. Jasprit Bumrah took the advantage of the pressure built at the other end and dismissed Chris Lynn. The other opener – Sunil Narine, and Gautam Gambhir at number three struggled to get regular boundaries and soon dropped to just 22/1 after 4 overs.

In the fifth over, Narine attempted to attack but ended up in dismissal as he got stumped. Robin Uthappa was out LBW to Bumrah in the sixth over, while Gambhir was caught at midwicket on the bowling of Karn Sharma. The very next ball saw Colin de Grandhomme getting dismissed for a first-ball duck. After seven overs, KKR tumbled at 31/5.

Ishan Jaggi and Suryakumar Yadav then applied themselves and gave the innings some respectability with a 56-run partnership. The face-saving partnership was broken in the 15th over when Jaggi (28 from 31 balls) picked the fielder at long-on. KKR then slipped and lost four wickets in quick time – including that of Surya Kumar Yadav for 31 (25 balls, 2 fours, 1 six); they did not even bat out their twenty overs and were all out for just 107.

MI
Krunal Pandya

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 4-16, Bumrah got his career-best figures of 3/7. The superlative bowling performance meant Mumbai had a very small total to chase.

MI had a rough start to their chase and were soon reduced to 34/3 when Ambati Rayudu got out to Chawla. Captain Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya then stitched a 54-run partnership that took MI to the brink. Rohit got out while Krunal stayed on and completed the job; he hit eight boundaries in his 28-ball 45 and duly scored the winning runs.
