“The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming #IPL seasons,” said SRH in a statement.

In another tweet, the former IPL Champions also thanked Tom Moody for his contributions to the team and wished him the best in his future endeavors.

“As his term with us draws to an end, we would like to thank Tom for his contributions to SRH. It has been a much cherished journey over the years, and we wish him the very best for future endeavours,” read the statement.

The appointment of Brian Lara brings down the curtains on Moody’s second stint as the head coach of SRH. He held the position first during 2013-2019, where he helped the side reach the IPL Playoffs five times and win the trophy in 2016. However, his second stint was far from impressive. In terms of wins in the IPL, SRH had picked up only nine victories from 28 matches.

Moody was also recently appointed as the director of cricket for the Desert Vipers, which will be one of the sides in the International League T20, which is scheduled to begin in the UAE in January 2023. This will be Lara’s first assignment as the coach of an IPL team.
