Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had been charged with breaching the code of conduct in the ongoing BBL 07 by Cricket Australia (CA), while playing a match against Melbourne Renegades at Etihad Stadium.

Maxwell was reported for breaching CA Code of Conduct Article 2.1.3 – showing disagreement at an umpire’s decision during a match – a Level 1 offense. The offense occurred during the Stars’ batting innings.

According to the CA Code of Conduct procedure, Match Referee Daryl Harper considered the umpires’ report and proposed a fine of a $2,500 over the all-rounder, if he listens to the umpire’s decision. However, Maxwell did not show any dissidence and admitted the offense. No hearing occurred as Maxwell had accepted the fine.

Glenn put up an impressive performance grasping four catches and even with the bat, he was equally lethal. After being dropped by Mohammad Nabi on seven runs, the master blaster finished his innings unbeaten 31. But it breathed fresh life into a Stars franchise that was growing a stench. Friday night’s victory signalled the changing of the guard

The 23-run loss could now see the Renegades drop out of the semi-finals as the race for the top-four heats up.
