While this celebration has earned him admiration from fans, it’s also come at a price—two fines from the BCCI for breaching the league’s conduct code. The origin of this celebration traces back to a friendly wager with his close friend and Punjab Kings batter, Priyansh Arya.
After dismissing Arya in a recent match, Rathi mimicked writing something on the ground, sparking curiosity and speculation. Clearing the air, the spinner explained that there was no animosity, just friendly banter between mates.

“Priyansh is a good friend. We had a fun bet—if I dismissed him, I’d celebrate like that,” Digvesh Rathitold Sports Tak. He further clarified that all he did was scribble Arya’s name in his invisible notebook, keeping the celebration light-hearted and personal.

Despite facing fines, Rathi has taken it in stride. “Rules are rules,” he said, accepting the penalties without complaint. When asked if there’s more to the celebration, he cheekily added, “There’s a name, and there is some secret,” keeping fans intrigued.

At just 25, Rathi is already making his mark. Before this season, he had played only 11 T20s, taking 12 wickets. But Lucknow Super Giants saw potential, snapping him up for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. And he’s proving his worth—so far, Rathi has claimed nine wickets in nine matches at an average of 29.11 and a commendable economy of 7.27.
