Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan, has acknowledged that the players are worried about the horrific nature of the COVID-19 pandemic which has been taking hundreds of lives outside the bio-bubble. As the second wave of the deadly virus wreaking havoc, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen that many players have pull-outs due to fear of bubble fatigue. Moreover, Pat Cummins has donated a whopping price of USD 50,000 to buy Oxygen cylinders in the country as well.

“It’s challenging and things have to be managed for the players and staff, and we know the horrific nature of what’s happening outside the bubble,” Morgan said after their convincing win against Punjab Kings on Monday.

“We try and lend our support and we’ve seen how devastating it is not only in India but around the world. If you’re going out stay safe, wear a mask, maintain social distance. We’ve seen huge amounts of tough times, even at home. On behalf of KKR, we wish everyone well. We can stick together, we can beat this thing,” Morgan added.

As far as the game is concerned, Punjab Kings captains KL Rahul has opened up about their poor performance as they could only score only 123 for 9.

“I really don’t know what to say, it was a poor performance from us. We should have adapted better on a new pitch, we could have applied a lot more with the bat and get that extra 20-30 runs. The wicket was a bit low and slow, but 120-130 was not enough. A few soft dismissals costing us the game,” KL Rahul concluded.

On the other hand, Rahul Tripathi too has played a match-winning knock. After having lost three early wickets, Tripathi and Eoin Morgan steadied the ship quite well and helped his side win as well.

“Feels nice that we’ve won the game. It was an important game for us after having lost three games in a row. Bowlers did extremely well to restrict them to a low total. We did lose early wickets but we knew that if we played proper cricketing shots, we could chase it down. Yes, the pitch did get a bit better in the second half but it was still two-paced and a bit slow. Yeah, I thought I was out (on that dive which saved him from a run out). Saw the throw coming and felt that I was a fraction late. Was a little upset but on seeing the replay, was really happy. I was set, wanted to take a chance against the offie. Probably should have gone harder, went half-hearted. Rash shot. Would have loved to carry on,” Tripathi said.
