After suffering yet another defeat against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan has said that his side has a talented bunch of players, but the only talent cannot bring wins too.

Delhi openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan helped Delhi Capitals beat KKR by 7 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Shaw and Dhawan played 82 and 46 respectively as Delhi Capitals secured a comfortable win with 21 balls to spare. With this win, Delhi Capitals moved to the second spot in the points table as well.

“Very disappointed. We were slow off the blocks with the bat, lost wickets in the middle period and Russell got us to 150-plus. Then got slow off the blocks with the ball. Shaw played brilliantly, nothing much we could do. Also shows how good the surface was. We were not good enough with all departments. He (Cummins) is part of our new ball plans,” Eoin Morgan told host broadcaster Star Sports.

However, Delhi had a brilliant start from the very first over where Shivam Mavi conceded six consecutive fours by Prithvi Shaw.

“Mavi bowled four on the trot last game and bowled well. Just did not go to plan today. You need to be honest and realistic with everyone in the dressing room. We have to be as honest as we can with each other. Hopefully, we can turn things around. There is a huge amount of talent in our squad but talent alone does not get you far. It is about execution,” Eoin Morgan further claimed.

However, KKR had a bad day at the office with their bat as their in-form players – Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi couldn’t do much so as their out-of-form captain Eoin Morgan. Only Shubman Gill managed to score 43 runs before Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 45 and helped his side post 154 runs for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. And, Delhi comfortably reached the target too.

KKR are currently placed at fifth in the points table with four points from seven games. They will next play against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday.
