Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul missed their last league match due to a medical emergency even before the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League was postponed. On the night before the match against Delhi Capitals, he was taken to the hospital in Ahmedabad after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis. However, their game later turned out to be last before the cash-rich league was suspended.

However, just before this announcement took place, a fan sent quite a bizarre email to Rahul’s father, Dr. K.N. Lokesh, who is a professor of the Civil Engineering department in the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. The mail was sent by a student from this college as well and a screenshot of the mail sent by the fan was uploaded by a senior of the college on Twitter.

The mail reads, “Hello sir, I am Rahul Kumawat from 2nd year mining branch. I have a doubt that KL Rahul sir will join IPL soon or he just left the IPL 2021 because of his appendix operation. I am his big fan sir.”

However, KL Rahul would have missed almost all the matches due to his operation of Appendicitis as this surgery needs a person to take proper rest for at least a week or two before getting back to their normal lives. And, this would not allow him from being a part of the Punjab Kings XI in some of their group league games as well.

But, KL Rahul was in a formidable form with the bat. In seven matches, he had scored 331 runs and was at the top of the batting charts as well before Shikhar Dhawan surpassed him during the match between Delhi and Punjab, which was the game that he had missed.

Punjab Kings won their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 34 runs. After the win, KL Rahul said: “There is nothing in particular against RCB, but all matches against them have been must win games for us because of when they come in the tournament. It was important for me to lead from the front and that’s what I try to do every game. When I have the opportunity to put pressure on bowlers and set targets, I try to do it to the best of my ability. It came off well today.”
