The senior Indian men’s cricket team has officially touched down in the United Kingdom ahead of their highly anticipated five-Test series against England, beginning June 20 at Headingley. To mark the occasion, the BCCI shared an engaging behind-the-scenes video, offering fans a glimpse into the team’s journey from Mumbai airport.

The footage captured cheerful moments of camaraderie—players laughing, interacting with fans, and teasing each other—painting a picture of a youthful squad brimming with energy and confidence. A standout moment in the video was Jasprit Bumrah cheekily teasing a teammate for wearing sunglasses at night—likely directed at new captain Shubman Gill, who appeared in shades on multiple occasions.
Arshdeep Singh and Rishabh Pant were also spotted in light-hearted exchanges. In one snippet, Pant responded to a paparazzo’s question about Rohit Sharma’s absence with trademark wit, joking, “Garden mein ghoom rahe hain,” a humorous nod to Rohit’s old stump-mic comment that left everyone around in splits. When asked if he would miss the retired legend, Pant gave a heartfelt “yes.”

The video reflected a changing of the guard in Indian cricket. With the absence of stalwarts like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, the spotlight now shifts to a younger brigade. Shubman Gill, at just 25, becomes the fifth-youngest Indian Test captain and is now entrusted with shaping the future of this team.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra weighed in on the transition, urging Gill to seize this unique opportunity to build a tight-knit leadership group. Speaking on JioHotstar, Chopra said, “This is the time to create a pack of wolves. Bring together the likes of Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Pant, Bumrah, and Siraj. Form a core group that will stand the test of time—today, six months from now, and five years down the line.”

He added that a young team offers a rare chance for the captain to grow in tandem with the group. “With seniors and juniors usually in different circles, this reset allows the creation of a unified culture and story the entire nation can rally behind,” Chopra concluded.
This tour marks more than a series—it’s the beginning of a new era.
