India and New Zealand are locking horns with each other in the first Test of the two-match series at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur. India’s stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane went on to win the toss and he chose to have a bowl first as the pitch is expected to further tear as the match goes ahead in the coming days.

India is coming into this fixture after a brilliant performance in the T20 series. Moreover, they put up a dominant performance against the Kiwis and registered a 3-0 win in the T20I series. This was the second time that the men in blue clean swept the Kiwis. However, on the opening day of the Kanpur Test, New Zealand started off well as they managed to get the wicket of Mayank Agarwal quite early in the innings.

Kyle Jamieson was brilliant with his bowled as he got the wicket of Agarwal and Shubman GIll, who went on to score a half-century. Moreover, Fill went on to play some good cricketing shots in the middle. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane followed him to the dressing room after playing disappointing shots.

But Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer continued their stay in the middle with a brilliant partnership. They went on to stitch a 100+ runs partnership which brought India back into the game. However, the day’s play was cut short due to the bad light in the latter part of the day.
