For the money being splashed around the Indian Premier League, the price tags become one of the major impediments for the different players and they simply cannot reciprocate their value at the auction table on to the field.

This season the story is no different and across both the weeks, there have been big price signings which have not turned up yet for their respective teams.

Much like the first week, we take a look at five players who despite earning hefty purse has not yet turned up.

#5 D’Arcy Short, Rajasthan Royals

The pugnacious Australia had a terrific Big Bash League season with the Hobart Hurricanes which also saw him making a spot in the Australian team.

However, he has not been able to replicate any of these performances for the Rajasthan Royals this season and after enduring four relatively lean matches, he was benched for the match against the Chennai Super Kings.

Short has the calibre to win matches all by himself which was one of the reasons the Royals splurged Rs. 4 crores for him at the auctions and both the player and the franchise would hope he hits the ground running if he is handed a comeback opportunity.

#4 Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Daredevils

Shreyas Iyer was one of the three players retained by the Delhi Daredevils ahead of the auctions and much was expected out of the young man.

In the four matches so far, Iyer has managed to score a paltry 42 runs which is just not good enough numbers from the talented Mumbaikar.

Delhi have managed to win just a solitary match and Iyer has to step up and start scoring runs as he bats in the middle order and can set the tone of innings. There is no doubt over his ability with the bat, he now has to translate promise into potential, sooner rather than later!

#3 Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings

Much like Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja was retained by the Chennai Super Kings, but it has been a rather tepid performance from the southpaw, both with the bat and ball.

He bats at number five or six and has not been able to apply the finishing touch with any assurity and with the ball, MS Dhoni has been hesitant in tossing the ball to him to complete his quota of overs.

Time is running out for the man from Saurashtra and he has to pull up his socks if has to hold on to his spot in the upcoming matches.

#2 Chris Morris, Delhi Daredevils

Another retention which has not turned up so far is the South African all-rounder Chris Morris.

After being such a sensation for the team in the previous season, Morris has not looked convincing at all either with the bat or ball.

He has thrown away his wicket playing few not so smart strokes and with the ball, the control and wicket-taking abilities have abandoned him.

Delhi were forced to bench in one of the matches, but then the all-rounder has the pedigree to change the context of matches and win it single-handedly and Delhi will have to look to get him back in the mix!

#1 Manish Pandey, Sunrisers Hyderabad 

Sunrisers Hyderabad shelled out Rs 11 crores for the Karnataka-man, but their faith has not been repaid yet.

Pandey looks to be in the groove everytime he comes out to bat, but can never kick on to make a substantial score.

Even when he scored 57 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, it was a slowish innings and when the team was chasing a score in excess of 190, this effort, although good on paper, was just not good enough from the experienced man in the middle order.
