During the 13th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils at Kolkata, Andre Russell displayed a bitterly cold approach against Mohammad Shami, hitting the Indian bowler for six sixes in two overs.

After being put in to bat by Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders went through a decent powerplay, scoring 50-1 in the first six overs. However, having lost Robin Uthappa (35) and Chris Lynn (31) in the middle overs affected their chances of ending the inning on a high note.

Russell did not waste much time in the middle.

It was at this point in time that Andre Russell hammered 22 runs in one Shami over. Russell, who had come in to bat at No. 6 in the 14th over, did not waste any time at all in using the long handle. He started off with a clever six over third-man on the third delivery of the 15th over.

Perhaps, being carried away with the momentum, Russell decided to take on Shami on the next delivery as well. However, he ended up skying the ball, but was lucky enough as Jason Roy failed to hold on to a daunting catch. Shami followed it with a full delivery on the off stump which Russell dispatched into the stands.

Russell ended the over with another six, hitting it clean over the deep midwicket fielder this time. Watch the video of Shami’s third over:

Gambhir didn’t take off Shami from the bowling attack. His decision proved to be costly for him Shami went for 20 runs in the last over of his spell. Russell commenced Shami’s last over with a six over sweeper cover. Shami came back from behind to concede only a couple of runs in the next three balls.

However, Russell had other plans, plans which disturbed Shami’s bowling figures to a large extent. Russell hit a monumental 102-metre six on the penultimate over the over and followed it up with another six over long-off.
