In the 21st match of IPL 2018, hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) claimed a 3-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur) on Sunday night. While MI scored 167/7 in 20 overs, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target in 19.4 overs after losing 7 wickets.

Mumbai Indians decided to bat first after winning the toss. After opener Evin Lewis scored a golden duck, another opener Suryakumar Yadav and no.3 batsman Ishan Kishan built up the innings superbly. The duo put a brilliant 129-run partnership for the second wicket. Suryakumar scored 72 runs off 47 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes while Ishan made 58 runs off 42 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
But once that partnership was broken, MI’s wickets were continuously falling. In the last 35 balls, MI only managed 37 runs for six wickets as the team managed to score 167/7 in 20 overs. Only Kieron Pollard played a responsible innings at the end as he was not out on 21 runs off 20 balls. Apart from Suryakumar, Ishan and Pollard, no other MI batsmen reached the two-digit mark.
Among the RR bowlers, Jofra Archer (3/22) took 3 wickets while Dhawal Kulkarni (2/32) and Jaydev Unadkat (1/31) picked up two and one wickets respectively.
In reply, hosts lost their both openers for cheaply as Rahul Tripathi scored just 9 runs while skipper Ajinkya Rahane managed to score 14 runs.
Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes provided a very important third wicket partnership which built up that innings. They put 72 runs partnership at the important time as Stokes scored 40 runs off 27 balls and Sanju played a 52-run knock off 39 balls.
After that partnership broken, RR batting faced collapse like MI but no.8 batsman Krishnappa Gowtham single-handedly saved the game for the hosts. The 29-year-old right-handed batsman scored firing unbeaten 33 runs off just 11 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes as RR chased down the target in 19.4 overs after losing 7 wickets.
Among the MI bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah (2/28) and Hardik Pandya (2/25) claimed two wickets each while Mitchell McClenaghan (1/32), Krunal Pandya (1/33) and Mustafizur Rahman (1/35) grabbed a wicket each.

MI 25 runs short IMO after fine Yadav-Ishan Kishan partnership. Batting blunders aplenty but credit to RR bowlers for keeping their nerve

Jaidev Unadkat's average economy this IPL is 11, which is still 0.5 lesser than his auction price. #RRvMI

Heck, Mumbai making a complete hash of it! 3 wickets lost for next to nothing, none worse than @ImRo45's completely insane run out.
