Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first after winning the toss. While KL Rahul and Chris Gayle provided another good start, other batsmen failed to utilise that opportunity as the hosts only managed to score 174/6 in 20 overs.

Failed to utilize the good opening partnership

KL Rahul and Chris Gayle

While in-form openers KL Rahul and Chris Gayle provided a superb start, it was looking like that KXIP would put a good total on the board, However, the next batsmen failed to deliver the expected knocks as KXIP managed to put 174/6 at the end of 20 overs.

Gayle and Rahul put the 54-run opening partnership but the next partnerships not stretched for long. While Gayle scored 50 runs, none of other KXIP batsmen reached the 30-run mark.
