In the 39th game of IPL 2018, hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) snatched a low-scoring thrilling victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal, Hyderabad) on Monday night. While SRH was bundled out for 146 runs in 20 overs, RCB only managed to score 141/6 at the end of 20 overs as the hosts won by just 5 runs.

RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to field first. While SRH openers Alex Hales (5 runs) and Shikhar Dhawan (13 runs) were dismissed cheaply, no.4 batsman Manish Pandey also returned to the pavilion shortly after scoring just 5 runs.

After those early failures, skipper Kane Williamson and Shakib Al Hasan controlled the innings with their stable battings. They put an important 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket which led the team to a good fighting total. Skipper Williamson scored 56 runs off 39 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes while Shakib managed to score an important 35 runs off 32 balls (5 fours).

Since their dismissals, lower-order added just a few runs as SRH was bowled out for 146 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Among the RCB bowlers, Tim Southee (3/30) and Mohammed Siraj (3/25) claimed three wickets each while Umesh Yadav (1/36) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/25) got three wickets.

In reply, RCB batsmen were struggling against the SRH bowlers too. None of the RCB batsmen stayed long at the crease which affected their game very much.

Openers Manan Vohra and Parthiv Patel were dismissed on 8 and 20 runs respectively, while skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed for 39 runs despite SRH captain Williamson dropped his earlier chance at slip. Later, AB de Villers (5 runs) and Moeen Ali (10 runs) were also dismissed cheaply which put the team in huge under pressure.

In the end, Mandeep Singh (21* runs) and Colin de Grandhomme (33 runs) tried very hard and brought the team at very close of the target but just failed to achieve that as RCB finished their innings for 141/6 in 20 overs. In the last ball of the match, Grandhomme had to score 6 runs for securing the victory but SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled him and secured his team for another low-scoring thrilling victory.

Among the SRH bowlers, Shakib Al Hasan got two wickets while Sandeep Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul and Rashid Khan claimed one wicket each.
