In the 50th game of IPL 2018, the host Mumbai Indians (MI) snatched a narrow 3-run victory against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai).

KXIP captain Ravichandran Ashwin decided to field first after winning the toss. With the help of a brilliant middle-order partnership between Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard, the hosts managed to put a good total of 186/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, KXIP was just short of their target despite their in-form opener KL Rahul’s heroic 94-run knock as they scored 183/5 at the end of 20 overs.

  • The second fastest IPL half-century by an MI batsman against KXIP. The record holder is Harbhajan Singh who had completed a half-century in just 19 balls at Mumbai on April 12, 2015.

 

iii) At the first batting, MI scored 186/8 in 20 overs.

  • The second highest first-batting IPL total for MI against KXIP. Their record is 189/6 (20) at Mohali on April 25, 2016.

iv) KXIP pacer Andrew Tye had the impressive bowling figure of 4-0-16-4.

  • It was Tye’s third 4-wicket hauls in the ongoing IPL 2018 season. He became the first bowler to claim more than two 4-wicket hauls in an IPL season.
  • The second best IPL bowling figure by a KXIP bowler against MI. The record is 4-0-15-4 by Marcus Stoinis at Visakhapatnam on May 13, 2016.
  • The second best IPL bowling figure by a visiting bowler against MI at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai). The record is 3.1-0-15-4 by Sunil Narine on May 16, 2012.
  • The second best bowling figure in IPL 2018. The record is 4-0-14-5 by Ankit Rajpoot (Kings XI Punjab) against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad (Deccan) on April 26.
