In the 56th game of IPL 2018, the hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) claimed a 5-wicket victory (with 5 balls to spare) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune) on Sunday night.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss. Despite the poor top-order batting collapse, KXIP managed to put the 153 runs (153 in 19.4 overs) on the board due to some good middle-order batting performances. It meant KXIP should restrict CSK for 100 or lower runs to qualify for the playoffs.

However, KXIP failed on their mission as CSK chased down that target successfully in 19.1 overs after losing 5 wickets.

Brief Scores: KXIP – 153 in 19.4 overs (Karun Nair 54, Manoj Tiwary 35, Lungi Ngidi 4/10)

CSK – 159/5 in 19.1 overs (Suresh Raina 61*, Deepak Chahar 39, Ankit Rajpoot 2/19)
