IPL 2018: Rajnikanth Is Against The Hosting Of IPL Matches In Chennai

Actor turned politician Rajnikanth, on Sunday came in support of the protest against the delay by the central government informing the Cauvery management board as directed by the Supreme Court. As per NDTV, the legendary actor expressed that it is an ’embarrassment’ that a time when the state is protesting over the Cauvery issue, the IPL matches are being held.

The actor-turned-politician also stressed on the fact that players and the fans should be wearing black badges during the match in a show of protest. Opposing IPL matches during the Cauvery issue, Nam Tamizhar Katchi leader Seeman said on Saturday that Tamil Nadu was not ready to host a cricket match amid of the agitations for the CMB. He asked the organizers to either postpone it or host the match elsewhere.

Talking about the shortage of water in the stage, Rajni said, “It will be nice if IPL is not played this time in Chennai understanding the plight of the farmers due to severe shortage of water. The CSK franchise should think over the issue and appreciate the fact that the time is not ripe for IPL in Chennai.”

Earlier, Kamal Haasan too had voiced his opposition in holding of IPL earlier. While he has been voicing his displeasure against the central government, this is the first time that Rajinikanth has spoken out on the issue.
