The history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) suggests that more often than not things take a drastic change in the cash0rich tournament. Another such incident happened on Wednesday as the person who was the favorite boy of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gautam Gambhir was earlier not even retained by the franchise who had won them two titles in the IPL. Then Delhi Daredevils (DD) stepped in and decided to tope him as their new captain, however, he failed to lead from the front of them and mid-way through the season, has stepped down.
It has been a drag so far for Daredevils this season as they have managed to register a victory in just game so far after 6 matches. They are fighting the bottom of the table spot with Mumbai Indians (MI). The team will now have to win at least 7 out of their last 8 games to qualify for the playoffs. Even in the personal prospect, Gambhir has failed as he scored only 85 at a strike rate of less than 100. He has looked completely out of sorts in the last few matches.

Shreyas Iyer will be leading the Delhi Daredevils (DD) as their new skipper for the remainder of the season and it likely now that Gautam Gambhir be dropped from the playing XI as well. With no strong performances to show, the team is likely to change their whole combination ahead of their next game against KKR on Friday. Iyer has been the only positive for him so far for Daredevils and has been consistent with the bat as well.
But Twitterati was not at all impressed with Gambhir stepping down from the captaincy as they believed the team was not doing well. They sympathized with the left-hander and felt that he should continue the lead despite the leader.
Here’s how they reacted:

Why did Gautam Gambhir step down as captain? His captaincy was not even an issue? He is struggling with the bat and that can't be because of captaincy, especially for someone who has led IPL team from last 6 seasons and did a decent job with both, batting and leadership. #IPL

Gautam Gambhir has taken the fall for his team’s poor show…some of the #DD tactical decisions were questionable but it felt, from the outside, that they weren’t his decisions alone. #IPL

Rohit Sharma should follow Gautam Gambhir 's example and step down as well. Although, it's a bit late.

Gautam Gambhir had a fine relationship going on with Kolkata Knight Riders but he decided to come back to his ex, Delhi Daredevils and has been friendzoned. Gotta feel for Gauti. He deserved better.

Gautam Gambhir is the first person in Delhi to resign,
that too for lack of performance,
that too on his own.— Mr. Bun (@MrFunyMan) April 25, 2018
Finally DD realised that Gautam Gambhir's twitter skills are better than his cricket skills.

Gautam Gambhir, as I have said before, was one of the best captains I have ever seen operate in T20 cricket and that includes both league T20s and International T20s. Had got all the qualities you want in a leader. Tactic, attitude, you name it. He had it.

Gautam Gambhir spends more time on Twitter than on the crease. 🏏#KKRvDD

Just In : "I felt ashamed of my fans because they mocked MS Dhoni after my every match and compared me with him. I am no match to him and not even a good captain, hence I am officially stepping down as #DD's captain."

Imagine Rohit Sharma being asked to step down or voluntary willing to step down as Captain for his poor show so far! Sounds horrendous doesn't it?
This is exactly how this move move by Gautam Gambhir/DD sounds to me!🤦♂️
