Addressing the media on the eve of Mumbai’s match, Jayawardene was asked the same question, where he replied: “I think the story is he is going for a night-out you know and get into a brawl or something like that.”

He was taking a dig at Ben Stokes Bristol incident, where he went for a night out in Bristol and caught in a brawl. Sri Lankan legend quickly clarified and said “Just joking. Bumrah missed a straight catch from Jimmy the other day. He was quite lucky actually. He had a pretty big swelling yesterday evening and managed to get it down. He’s one of the good ones in the team.”
