A big surprise came during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings as MS Dhoni opted to rest and Suresh Raina led the side. He won the toss and opted to bat first. Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson gave CSK a good start with a 79-run partnership for the first wicket. But both got out in quick succession and it opened a floodgate for Hyderabad bowlers, who dismissed five Chennai batsmen in no time. Ambati Rayudu didn’t lose his focus and took Chennai’s total to 132/5 in 20 overs. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowler with two wickets at the cost of 17 runs in his four overs.

David Warner’s firework in IPL 2019 continues

Hyderabad came with all guns blazing against Chennai bowlers. David Warner was the main destructor as he raced to his fifty inside the powerplay but fell soon after. Kane Williamson failed in the second consecutive game after his comeback but Jonny Bairstow was not in the mood to throw this start away. He remained calm and stroke to his personal fifty and took Hyderabad to pass Chennai’s total with six wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare.

David – the pocket size dynamite – Warner

Explosive opener laid the foundation of Hyderabad’s victory against CSK. Warner was hitting the ball from the first over and punished every bowler in the process. He scored yet another half-century in IPL 2019, which came off just 24 balls. Warner got dismissed in the last over of powerplay for exact 50 runs. He scored 10 fours during this innings and made a mockery of SRH’s chase of 133 runs.

Rashid Khan’s spin web

Afghani spin wizard forced Chennai batsmen to dance on his spinning balls. Rashid Khan came to bowl in the middle overs and immediately stopped run scoring. His double-wicket over, where he dismissed Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav, left Chennai searching for momentum. Rashid bowled 13 dot balls in his four-over spell, where he registered figures of 2/17.

Losing the plot in middle overs

Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson gave Chennai a good start with the bat as they shared 79 runs for the opening wicket. But once it was broken, SRH bowlers found a way to make inroads. They dismissed both CSK openers in a span of three balls. All of sudden Chennai found themselves from being 79/0 to 101/5. The middle-order collapsed like a pack of cards and they couldn’t reach a fighting total. The last five overs were also not that rosy for them and they only managed 29 runs in that phase.
