Delhi Capitals hosted Mumbai Indians with hopes to strengthen their position on the points table. Mumbai won the toss and opted to bat first while naming several changes in their squad. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave their team a blazing start and Mumbai raced to 57/0 inside the powerplay. Rohit got out the ball after and it opened the floodgates for Delhi spinners. Amit Mishra and Axar Patel slowed down the proceedings for Mumbai but Pandya brothers’ cameo put them into a commanding position with a blistering finish. Hardik’s 15-ball 32 runs took their total to 168/5 in 20 overs, out of which 50 runs came in last three overs.

Delhi had a similar start to what Mumbai got. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw scored quick runs during first six overs to take Delhi 48 for no loss. But Rahul Chahar turned the match from here on with a stunning spell, where he grabbed three wickets. All of sudden, Delhi found themselves reeling at 76/5. Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga finished the job from here on and restricted Delhi for 128/9 in 20 overs to win the match by 40 runs.

Krunal Pandya (MI)

Mumbai was reeling 74/3 in 10 overs when Krunal Pandya came to bat. He batted sensibly and played out spinners of Delhi. Krunal was scoring boundaries on bad balls and rotating the strike consistently. He shared a 54-run partnership with his brother Hardik and finished his innings with 37 runs off 26 balls where he struck five fours. He, then, returned to take the crucial wicket of Colin Munro with the ball and gave just seven runs in his two overs.

Axar Patel (DC)

Delhi all-rounder stopped the run-flow of Mumbai with some tight bowling. Axar dismissed big-hitting all-rounder Ben Cutting for just two runs. He gave just 17 runs in his four-over spell while he managed just one wicket. He also contributed with the bat as he scored 26 runs off 23 balls where every Delhi batsmen were finding it hard to cope against the spin.

Rahul Chahar (MI)

Delhi got off to a flier of a start but their wings were cut down by the spin of Rahul Chahar. He opened the bowling for Mumbai and dismissed three important batsmen after the powerplay. Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer were his victims who couldn’t survive against Chahar’s spin. He bowling figures read 4-0-19-3.
