It will be Southern rivalry in Sunday’s doubleheader, where Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Chennai Super Kings in the 39th match of IPL 2019. They played in the season opener as well, where Chennai folded Bengaluru’s innings for just 79 runs on a rank turner. Since then, both teams have exactly opposite journey so far. While CSK won seven and lost two matches, RCB won two and lost seven matches. They are sitting on the different ends of the points table. But these things will not matter when these two heavyweights will collide in M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The atmosphere is expected to be hot to a new extent.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
RCB played against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, where Virat Kohli led his team from the front with his fifth IPL ton. Moeen Ali played a good hand to boost their total to 213/4 in 20 overs. Dale Steyn shone in his first match and jolted KKR’s run-chase. In the end, Bengaluru survived an Andre Russell-scare to win the game by 10 runs.
If AB de Villiers gets fit, he will come into the fray in place of his countryman Heinrich Klaasen. No more changes are expected in the team.
Probable XI: Parthiv Patel (WK), Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis, Akshdeep Nath, Pawan Negi, Dale Steyn, Mohammad Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK was outplayed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game. Chennai was restricted for 132 in 20 overs and SRH batsmen took no time in chasing the total down inside 17 overs. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were starred with the bat while Rashid Khan’s spin bowling set the tone of the game for Hyderabad.
Chennai can bring Harbhajan Singh back for this game in place of Karn Sharma. Sam Billings will make way for MS Dhoni, who was rested in the last game.
Probable XI: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (C/WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir.
