In the 29th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be locking horns with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. It hasn’t been a regular-season of CSK as the halfway mark, CSK languishes in the bottom half of the table with just two wins in seven games.

While the likes of Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran shouldering most of the responsibilities for the team, other CSK players are yet to fire as a unit. However, the Super Kings, with their backs up against the wall, will be expected to go all guns blazing with the aim of winning the game. Similarly, SRH hasn’t kicked on and their chances were heavily jolted when Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered a season-ending injury.

In Bhuvi’s absence, Rashid Khan has been leading the bowling attack and the Afghan would hope that his most recent outing against RR only remains an anomaly. However, they will need the likes of Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma to step up in the middle order with this being a crucial game for both sides. However, CSK would be wary of the Afghan spinner this time around with the duo of Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni itching to overturn their team’s fortunes with a win on Tuesday.

As the two sides prepare for a thrilling encounter, here’s a look at three key player battles to keep an eye on.

#1. Faf du Plessis vs T Natarajan

One of the best modern-day batsmen, Faf du Plessis will be facing T Natarajan and it promises a lot on paper. The CSK opener is the highest run-scorer for the team in the season so far, but he has lost the momentum in the last few matches. Du Plessis has an excellent IPL record and on the other hand, Natarajan has always been a wicket-taker for SRH and he will be under immense pressure to prove his worth.

Natarajan will be playing the role of a wicket-taker. He is the highest wicket-taker for SRH in the ongoing season as he has sclaped 7 wickets in 6 games at a strike rate of 19.57. He will be looking forward to improving the numbers this season for sure.

#2. MS Dhoni vs Rashid Khan

MS Dhoni is way past his glory years as he has scored just 113 runs from seven matches. However he has managed to maintain the strike-rate is fine at 131.76, but facing Rashid Khan won’t be easy for him as the has sclaped 10 wickets from seven games with an incredible economy of 5.03. As things stand, form and luck seem to be favoring Rashid Khan, but MS Dhoni is a fighter to the core and will battle away as long as he can. And who knows, it could well be Rashid who has to bear the brunt, come Wednesday.

#3. David Warner vs Deepak Chahar

CSK frontline bowler Deepak Chahar has been failing to produces wickets for which he has been known for. On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow has scored 257 runs from seven SRH games in IPL 2020, with a fine 97 as his top score and a strike rate of 133.16, which is quite a bit lesser than his IPL overall strike rate of 147.47.

Deepak Chahar has scalped six wickets from seven matches for CSK, with an economy of 7.92, but he has in the last couple of matches shown a rhythm and he has been swinging the ball well, which can be telling for an opener. With both teams desperate for a win, key players like Bairstow and Chahar will be eyeball-to-eyeball. Who blinks first may well affect the result of the match.
