In the 2nd Qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Delhi Capitals (DC) will be locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday, October 13 at Sharjah. Delhi Capitals lost the first qualifier against Chennai Super Kings by 4 wickets and now it’s time for them to use the second opportunity to the fullest and reach their second consecutive final, especially after finishing at the top of the table.
DC was very competitive throughout Qualifier 1 and couldn’t able to hold their nerves against one of the greatest finishers MS Dhoni. However, now they will leave no stone unturned in Qualifier 2. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, stormed into Qualifier 2 by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator by 4 wickets in the final over of the match. A lot of credit for the win goes to Sunil Narine who picked up 4 wickets initially and later played a handy cameo with the bat.
KKR’s spinners are doing a commendable job in this tournament and hardly went for runs. Despite his poor run of form with the bat, Eoin Morgan has led the side really well. These two teams have clashed on 30 occasions so far in the history of this tournament, where both DC has won 14 games while KKR has won just one more game.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Andre Russell is still rehabilitating from his hamstring injury ever since he hobbled off the field against CSK. In the last five innings, he’s played against KKR, Prithvi Shaw scored four half-centuries with his lowest strike rate being 140.91 in 2018. One of the match-ups that will be key is Sunil Narine bowling to Dhawan. The spinner has dismissed Dhawan twice in 64 balls and has conceded just 69 runs.
Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Eoin Morgan (c), Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shakib al Hasan, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Chakaravarthy, Prasidh Krishna
Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi Capital will be expected to go with full pace attack. Prithvi Shaw, who seems to have picked some form in the last couple of games will play a crucial role. If he’s unavailable, DC has the option of going with either Tom Curran or Sam Billings, with Curran picking wickets in the last game, he will be expected to get a nod. Nitish Rana and Narine, meanwhile, thrive against R Ashwin, who will again be key on the slowish surface.
