Indian Premier League 2022 is going on in full swing. While the players have been taking the limelight with their performances, the board is planning to arrange a closing ceremony for this season of the cash-rich league after three years. However, due to COVID-19, the closing ceremonies have got cancelled thrice but this time fans might get to witness the closing ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the final match will take place on May 29.
“BCCI is working on the plan to have a closing ceremony this year. We are discussing having a closing ceremony this year after the final match in Ahmedabad. We want to bring back the colour of IPL so you might see the closing ceremony,” a source from BCCI told ANI.
The IPL 2022 league matches are taking place only in Maharashtra with Mumbai and Pune being host cities as well. Owing to COVID restrictions, the spectators are allowed in a limited capacity ins the stadium as well. Notably, the play-off dates haven’t been finalized yet.
As far as matches are concerned, so far 26 matches have been played and Gujarat Titans are the table-topper with 4 wins from 5 matches. Lucknow Super Giants have a similar win from 6 games whereas the two most-consistent teams of IPL, Mumbai Indians and the defending champions Chennai Super Kings are placed at the bottom of the points table. While Chennai won a single match, Mumbai failed to win a single game so far as well.
