In the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) will be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both sides have witnessed somewhat similar outings in the season so far. While RCB has three wins in five games, DC has two wins and as many defeats. Hence, it would be interesting to see how this game pans out. RCB don’t have many loopholes in the team as such, overall they have done well in all departments.

However, the Faf du Plessis-led suffered a 23-run loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and would be raring to bounce back. Their batting order looks pretty settled as from youngster Anuj Rawat to finisher Dinesh Karthik, all batters have runs under their belt. As far as DC is concerned, the absence of overseas cricketers hurt them big time in their initial games. However, they are coming off a comprehensive 44-run win over a strong Kolkata Knight Riders line-up.

Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner have been scoring runs while Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur have been successful in providing some momentum in the slog overs. Although Anrich Nortje has played just one game, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman has done pretty well fulfilling his duties. Kuldeep Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed have also been successful in taking wickets at regular intervals. 

Delhi Capitals (DC)

David Warner and Rishabh Pant have scored a plethora of runs against RCB in the past. They along with Prithvi Shaw, are shouldering a major load of DC’s batting and will be the key for DC. Both Pant and Shaw have a strike rate in excess of 150 against Mohammad Siraj but have fallen to have five times in total.

There are a couple of battles centered around spin that could play a big part in the match. Glenn Maxwell has dismissed Pant twice in just 12 deliveries, while Faf du Plessis hasn’t been able to do well against Axar Patel, falling to him thrice and a strike rate of just 110 against the leftie. These two battles could well dictate how the batting innings go for the respective teams.
