On Friday, the official broadcaster, Star Sports, announced the complete schedule of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The 10-team IPL season will get underway on March 31 with the opening game will be played between the last season’s winners, Gujarat Titans (GT), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Chennai.

The tournament will see a total of 70 league matches being played. IPL 2023 will be played across 12 venues. In addition to the 10 venues of each franchise, two more venues – Dharamsala and Guwahati will also host a few games this season. The tournament kicks off five days after the inaugural Women’s Premier League season ends on March 26, and the final will be held in Ahmedabad on May 28.

The last league match will be played on May 21. A total of 70 league matches will be played including 18 doubleheaders. Each team will play 7 home and 7 away games. The final of the tournament is expected to be played on May 28.

The upcoming edition of the cash-rich league will also be a special season as the most popular T20 league in the world will complete 15 years. IPL 2022 saw the tournament increase the roster and become a 10-team event after the addition of Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Led by Hardik Pandya, GT was simply brilliant in their maiden IPL season and went on to lift their maiden IPL title after defeating Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the summit clash.
