Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been declared fit to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2019. He sustained a finger injury before the commencement of Bangladesh’s New Zealand tour, which kept him at bay for the just concluded series.

Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mentioned that Shakib would be required a clearance certificate before taking part in the IPL. As he has given one now, he can be seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL.

Shakib was ruled out of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand and the following two Tests after sustaining a finger injury during the Bangladesh Premier League final between Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians. Shakib copped a blow from Thisara Perera while batting, and it was later revealed that he had suffered a fracture.

BCB was not in the mood to take any kind of risk with Shakib keeping an eye on the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in mind, which will commence from May 30 in England and Wales. Now, BCB cricket operation chairman, Akram Khan, has cleared the dark clouds regarding Shakib’s availability for the 12th season of IPL and mention the board has given him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the tournament.

“He has been practicing for more than a week and nowadays he is batting and bowling [in full scale]. He has been given that [NOC] from BCB as we knew that he will play the IPL,” said Akram Khan.

Bangladesh Cricket Board, however, was clearly concerned about Shakib’s workload given his recent injury history and insisted that he manages it smartly through the next two months.

“We will have a concern if he gets any further injury in the IPL again. It will be better for him if he took less risk. And though we did not discuss about him in line of playing fewer matches, we will discuss with him about the risk factors before he leaves,” he further added.

“We will tell him not to take any [unnecessary] risks due to his fitness as well as ask him to inform the franchise that he is not available unless he is totally fit.”

IPL 2019 will kick start from March 23 in Chennai, where defending champion Chennai Super Kings will lock horn against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The final of the tournament is expected to be played on May 12 in Chennai, though the official announcement is yet to be made.
