India thrashed the hosts Ireland for the second time after defeating them by a huge margin of 143 runs in the second or final T20I of the two-match T20I series at Dublin on Friday. India scored 213/4 in 20 overs while Ireland was bowled out for just 70 runs (12.3 overs).
Like the previous game, Ireland skipper Garry Wilson sent the Indian team again to bat first after winning the toss. Siddarth Kaul made a debut in the international cricket while Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav also returned to the squad.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli opened the innings with KL Rahul but was dismissed for just 9 runs. Rahul continued his lethal IPL form in this game by scoring his fourth T20I half-century. The right-handed opening batsman provided a brilliant 106-run partnership for the second wicket with Suresh Raina who also scored a half-century.
Rahul scored 70 off 36 balls (3 fours and 6 sixes) while Raina played a knock of 69-run off 45 balls (5 fours and 3 sixes). While Rohit Sharma went for a duck, Manish Pandey remained unbeaten on 21 off 20 balls and Hardik Pandya played a very furious knock of unbeaten 32 runs off just 9 balls (only four and 4 sixes) at the late moment. These innings helped India to put 213/4 on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Among the Irish bowlers, Kevin OβBrien (3/40) picked up three wickets while Peter Chase (1/42) got one wicket.
In reply, Ireland was bundled out for just 70 runs in 12.3 overs. Skipper Gary Wilson (15 runs) scored the highest runs in that innings while William Porterfield (14 runs), Stuart Thompson (13 runs) and Boyd Rankin (10 runs) were the other batsmen to reach the double-digit mark. Three batsmen (Paul Stirling, Kevin OβBrien and Simi Singh) were dismissed for a duck.
Among the Indian bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav (3/16) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3/21) bagged three wickets each while Umesh Yadav (2/19) picked up two wickets and debutant Siddarth Kaul (1/4) & Hardik Pandya (1/10) got one wicket each.
While India won the two-match T20I series by the 0-2 margin, Rahul won the Player of the Match award and Chahal won the Player of the Tournament award.
All one can say is Ireland has gone down and down over the last 5 years. 4 Indian changes had no meaning for Ireland because they would surrender either way. @klrahul11 looked superb though.

Rather than playing against #Ireland If #TeamIndia play against #IndiaA It would have been more interesting and also challenging for each other.#INDvsIRE #T20 #BCCI
