Jos Buttler Reveals His Job In The Rajasthan Royals Squad

Rajasthan Royals (RR) have always been the franchise that has been relying a lot on the overseas players in the last few seasons. They have the likes of Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, and David Miller in their team while Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes got unfortunately ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to injuries.

A 26-year-old Sanju Samson, who has played 7 matches for the Indian team, is leading the franchise. However, Jos Buttler, the vice-captain of England in the white-ball formats, recently revealed his role in the batting line-up. The 30-year-old has stated that he is “passing on the experience” to a young leader like Samson and guiding the youngsters in the team alongside Chris Morris and David Miller.

Describing the same during a recent chat with Sports Today, Jos Buttler said, “I think, seeing my role at the moment, it is to try and pass on experience. Try and lead from the front in the way I train, in the way I play, that’s really important. Sanju is in his first year of captaincy. So I have done a lot of vice-captaincy work with the England team, so I am trying to help him along the way when he wants something, or if I see anything.”

He further added, “We have lots of really exciting young Indian players. I think it’s really important for myself and the likes of David Miller and Chris Morris as overseas players, we have a lot of experience, to try and assist those guys and try to help them learn, try and pass on skills that we have learned.”

Rajasthan Royals are yet to find rhythm in the ongoing IPL 2021 and are standing at 7th place on the points table. Out of the 5 matches, they have played far, the 2009 champions have managed to win only 2 of them.

The team has lately been plagued by injuries and players (Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone) opting out of the tournament due to bio-bubble fatigue. They play their next match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
