Australia head coach Justin Langer has recently said that he is not a great coach and wants to be one as well but also said that he wants to stay in the job also. Notably, Langer was appointed as the head coach on a four-year contract in 2018 after Darren Lehmann had stepped down from the post after the infamous ball-tampering scandal.

“If the board and the CEO and high-performance manager believe I’m the right person to keep leading us forward, absolutely. I absolutely love my job,” Langer was quoted as saying by The Sydney Morning Herald.

Justin Langer has also opened up on the reports where it was suggested that players criticised his coaching style, citing that he was “hurt” the way players reacted. And, Langer is trying his best to do well despite ‘hurtful’ media reports.

He continued: “I didn’t like losing to India in the amazing series, no one likes losing. I’m absolutely committed, I love my job, I love the Australian cricket team, I love the players and I love Australian cricket. They’re the things I value most in my life. Hopefully, I’ve done a really good job the last three years, that’s been the feedback. Long may that continue.”

“Until my contract comes up in a year’s time or beyond I’ll be doing what I always do. I’ll be working really hard to help Australian cricket become a great Australian cricket team. That we keep developing heroes because that’s what we’ve all had since we were little kids and the Australian public loves what we’re doing. That’s what we’re all about,” he further added.

“We’re not a great team yet and that’s what we’re all aspiring to. Like I’m aspiring to be a great coach. I’m not a great coach yet, I’m aspiring to be a great coach. I’m working towards it and I hope all the players are doing the same thing. I was really honest about that and it was a really, really uplifting two days”, Justin Langer was quoted as saying to cricket.com.au.
