Kavya Maran, the CEO and co-owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has finally opened up about her frequent appearances on camera during IPL matches and the internet memes that follow. Known for her passionate expressions in the stands, Kavya admits she’s aware of the attention and understands the fascination behind it. According to her, it’s all a reflection of how emotionally invested she is in the team’s performance.

Speaking to Fortune India, Kavya Maran said, “Those are my raw emotions you’re seeing because I’ve put my heart and soul into Sunrisers Hyderabad. This job demands that I be present, and when I am, I can’t hide how I feel. In Hyderabad, I sit in a designated area, but even when I’m far off in a stadium like Ahmedabad or Chennai, the cameraman still finds me.”

“When you care about something deeply, you can’t help but be personally attached to its ups and downs,” she added.
Her connection with the franchise runs deep, and so does her ambition. In 2023, SRH finished at the bottom of the points table, despite high hopes. A year later, they bounced back to make the finals. In 2025, however, they slipped to a mid-table finish, missing the playoffs after just six wins in 14 matches.

Beyond the IPL, Kavya also oversees Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA20 league — a franchise that has already made history by winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024 under Aiden Markram.
