“No human life is worth sacrificing for IPL which should not take place if the situation doesn’t improve in two-three weeks,” he said following the BCCI’s decision to hold back the T20 tournament till 15th April.

Ness Wadia, who earlier spoke to the BCCI officials which included the president Sourav Ganguly on Friday, said that the situation has to improve for the upcoming IPL matches to take place in the country.

“There can be no compromise for even one human life. If we cancel the IPL and end up saving one life, it will be worth it. That is my personal opinion. It is better to be safe than sorry,” Wadia said to the PTI.

However, the IPL governing council will meet in Mumbai on Saturday to decide what to be done next where close door games can be an option instead of cancelling the event if it will take place from April 15.

“The first benchmark is April 15. If the situation improves after two-three weeks, it could be reconsidered, if not then IPL should definitely not happen,” said Ness Wadia.

Ness Wadia, along with the other franchise owners, will be meeting the officials of Indian Premier League on Saturday before the governing council meets to discuss for their next action. Meanwhile, the two remaining India versus South Africa One Day International games in Lucknow and Kolkata were called off on Friday owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. Not only this, but many sporting events across the globe have also been called off for the time being because of the coronavirus outbreak which included the recent OI series between Australia and New Zealand too.
