Former India cricketer and current member of BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee, Madan Lal, praised Indian captain Virat Kohli for his aggression. However, his aggressive behaviour came under the scanner during India’s recent tour of New Zealand, where he gave New Zealand captain Kane Williamson a send-off too. Lal, however, said that India need an aggressive captain like Kohli whose aggression is helpful in many ways.

“I don’t understand why people in India are asking him to mellow down,” Lal said to The Times of India. “First, everyone wanted a very aggressive captain and now you want Kohli to stop his aggressive streak. I love the way he is on the field. Earlier, people used to say that Indians are not aggressive; now that we’ve become aggressive people question that and ask why we are so aggressive. I enjoy Kohli’s aggression; we need a captain like him.”

Madan Lal also backed Virat Kohli to get back to form after a not-so-good series with the bat.

“He was out of form. You can say it was a loss of confidence. That [tour of New Zealand] doesn’t take anything away from him. He is still the world’s best player. At times, technical flaws come in and you then try harder and harder but still you don’t come out of it. It happens to the best of players,” he said.

On the other hand, coronavirus has affected not only everyone’s lives but also sporting events across the globe which included the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League where no decision took place during Monday’s teleconference by the eight IPL franchise owners as the situation has not changed much in the last few days amid the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country as well as globally.

Earlier the BCCI has postponed the start date of the tournament from March 29 to April 15 as India currently reported 114 positive cases and two deaths for COVID-19 so far. While all the foreign visas have already been put on hold till April 15, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that a “truncated IPL” can take place where a minimum 17 days already lost.
