Newly appointed South Africa head coach Mark Boucher has given a hint that the dangerous batsman AB de Villiers could come out of from his retirement and lead the Protean side in the ICC World T20 next year. After having a forgettable 2019, Cricket South Africa has taken stern decisions to bring back the lost glory back. For this, former skipper, Graeme Smith was appointed the Director of Cricket for the board.

On the other hand, Boucher now has joined as the head coach and he has an uphill task to get the best players on board for the upcoming World T20 in Australia. Apart from that, he could also be looking to get the services of some of the Kolpak players.

“From a coach’s perspective, I’d love to have the opportunity to deepen and strengthen the squad. It will keep everyone on their toes and will bring more excellence into the game in this country,”Mark Boucher told ESPNcricinfo.

Boucher shares a good rapport with the former player AB de Villiers and said that he might not be the only one who could come out of retirement for the upcoming mega event.

“When you go to a World Cup, you want your best players playing for you,” Boucher said. “If I feel he is one of your best players, why wouldn’t I want to have a conversation with him? I’ve only just got into the job, I might have conversations with quite a few players and see where they are,” he added.
