Playing for the survival, Rajasthan Royals managed to score 158/8 batting first against Kings XI Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. They will have to overcome Gayle and Rahul at the top to successfully defend the target against mighty Punjab team. It was Jos Buttler who scored more than the half the team runs tonight.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first. RR had made three changes to their team. They brought in Ish Sodhi, Mahipal Lomror and Stuart Binny to replace D’Arcy Short, Rahul Tripathi and Shreyas Gopal. KXIP also made two changes to the team that last played against Rajasthan Royals.

KXIP finally decided to give a rest to Mayank Agarwal who was in poor form and brought in Akshdeep Nath. They also replaced Ankit Rajpoot with Mohit Sharma. The change was considering the slower pitch that they had to play on.

Jos Buttler, who has been a different batsman since he has started opening for Rajasthan, played another blitz knock tonight. The only criticism of him is that he slowed down drastically once the powerplay was over and the ball became softer. He ended with 82 runs from 58 balls and was stumped on the bowling of Mujeeb.

Captain Rahane faced another failure and was out for 9(10). RR experimented with K Gowtham at number three but he was son out for 8(6). Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes supported Buttler but could not go on to score a big one. Rajasthan ended up with 158/8 as Andrew Tye took four wickets. Tye finished with the figures of 4/34 while Mujeeb picked up 2/21.
