The Pakistan cricket team was scheduled to play a test match Bangladesh in April as part of the ICC Test Championship which has been postponed right now. More cricket tournaments and series are expected to be canceled and postponed in the next upcoming months because of the virus.  The new fixture list will also be made only after the spread of the virus is contained. As the current Test championship cycle runs from 2019-2021. Misbah has suggested extending the current cycle to have enough time to accommodate and complete all the rescheduled matches. The former Pakistan player wants to make sure that every team gets equal opportunities and a chance to compete in the final.

“I just think that all teams must get equal opportunities in the championship even if matches are rescheduled,” Misbah-ul-Haq  said on Tuesday.

“Whenever cricket resumes all teams should get equal opportunity in the ICC World Test Championship to try to play in the final. The tournament can be extended beyond 2021. The tournament should be extended that is my view. That is the only way we can find and end the event in a balanced way. Matches can be rescheduled if the event is extended,” he added.

The ICC is expected to hear advice from the members and other associations on the board and arrive at a solution on how / when or if the matches will be rescheduled. The Pakistan Cricket team was scheduled to tour England for a 3 match test series in July 2020. However, with all the players under lockdown and shut indoors, players have found it very difficult to practice or train due to the lack of facilities. Misbah has however asked all the centrally contracted players to follow a training regimen shared by the management with the team.

“I have been in touch with most of the players including centrally contracted players even trainer is in touch with them we are giving them and sending them plans according to their equipment at home to remain in shape as a team. I want the physical condition of players to be what is required in Test cricket whenever cricket resumes,” he mentioned .
