Australian pace legend Mitchell Starc is set to don the Delhi Capitals jersey for IPL 2025 after being acquired for ₹11.75 crore in the mega auction. The left-arm quick, who played a pivotal role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ title-winning campaign in 2024, is now gearing up for a new challenge with DC. Before flying to India for the tournament’s 18th edition, Starc expressed his admiration for his new teammate, KL Rahul.

Praising Rahul’s adaptability, Mitchell Starc described him as India’s “Mr. Fixit” due to his ability to excel in multiple roles. “KL Rahul is like Mr. Fixit for India—he has opened when asked to, batted at number six, kept wickets, fielded, and played key roles in the middle order. He has done just about everything. I am excited to play alongside him,” Starc shared on the Fanatics YouTube channel.

KL Rahul, too, is entering a new chapter in his IPL career. The stylish right-hander was picked up by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore after being released by Lucknow Super Giants. His recent form has been outstanding—he scored 140 runs in four innings during the Champions Trophy 2025 and secured a spot in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament.

Interestingly, despite his leadership experience with Punjab Kings and LSG, Rahul declined DC’s offer to captain the side, preferring to focus solely on his batting. This decision has led the franchise to appoint Indian all-rounder Axar Patel as their new captain for the season.

A senior DC official confirmed the development, stating, “Yes, Axar Patel is likely to be named the skipper for IPL 2025. The franchise approached KL Rahul for the role, but he expressed his desire to contribute purely as a batter.”

Axar, a mainstay of DC since 2019, was retained for ₹18 crore, highlighting the trust the franchise has in his abilities. With Starc bolstering the pace attack and Rahul reinforcing the batting lineup, Delhi Capitals will aim to make a strong title push in IPL 2025.
