Mohammad Hafeez urges not to spread rumours amid COVID-19 outbreak

Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has asked everyone on Twitter to stop spreading rumours about the novel coronavirus and also asked everyone to take necessary precautions as well. Coronavirus has affected not only everyone’s lives but also sporting events across the globe which included the upcoming edition of the IPL where no decision took place during Monday’s teleconference by the eight IPL franchise owners as the situation has not changed much in the last few days amid the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country as well as globally.

“Humble request to all, please stop spreading rumours about #Corona, stop blaming others and follow the precautions and stay safe,” Mohammad Hafeez tweeted.

Earlier, after the cases have been increasing of a novel coronavirus, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the semi-finals and final of the Pakistan Super League will be delayed due to COVID-19. Although PCB announced about the rescheduled games, they have not announced the date. The decision has been taken before the first semi-final between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans takes place.

Both the semi-finals of the tournament were scheduled to play on March 17, while the final was to be held on March 18. As per the Express Tribune, provincial authorities on Tuesday confirmed that there are 10 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Sindh and Punjab which made Pakistan’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 194.

Coronavirus has affected not only everyone’s lives but also sporting events across the globe which included the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League where no decision took place during Monday’s teleconference by the eight IPL franchise owners as the situation has not changed much in the last few days amid the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country as well as globally.

Earlier the BCCI has postponed the start date of the tournament from March 29 to April 15 as India currently reported 114 positive cases and two deaths for COVID-19 so far. While all the foreign visas have already been put on hold till April 15, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that a “truncated IPL” can take place where a minimum 17 days already lost.
