India will be playing five Test matches in England from August 4 to September 14, which will mark the commencement of the World Test Championship 2021-23. India haven’t won a Test series in England since 2007 when Rahul Dravid’s team came victorious.

However, the current Indian squad is looking solid ahead of this series and several experts are backing them to win this time around. Mohammed Siraj is also certain of an Indian win.

Recalling India’s historic Test series win in Australia earlier this year, Siraj admitted winning that series was a different feeling.

“The Australia series taught me a lot. Playing under Ajju bhaiya (Ajinkya Rahane) was amazing. He backed me a lot. I still get goosebumps when I recall that day. Holding the winning trophy and celebrating with the team is a different feeling altogether,” Siraj told Times of India in an exclusive interview.

“I am confident that we will beat England the way we defeated Australia. I am not nervous, I am confident. We have stars in our team.

“I am confident India will beat England under Virat Bhaiya’s captaincy. I am eager to hold the winning trophy with Virat Bhaiya in England. Our team is looking so strong and we are ready for this big series.”

After the Australia Test series, India were toured by England. Siraj also featured in that series and dismissed English skipper Joe Root. He is looking forward to trouble Root once again during the upcoming series.

“Joe Root is England’s best batsman. I am targeting his wicket and there are others too who I want to target. I dismissed Root during the home series and he is part of my plan of action. My aim is to take as many wickets for my team as possible,” the 27-year-old concluded.

The first Test between England and India will be played in Nottingham’s Trent Bridge from August 4.
