More Than 1,000 Players Registered Their Names In IPL 2019 Player Auction

A total of 1,003 players have registered their names for the upcoming VIVO IPL 2019 Player Auction that will be held in Jaipur on December 18, 2018.

Only 70 players can be selected from that auction while 200 capped players, 800 uncapped players and three associate nations’ players have registered their names in this Player Auction list. The eight participating franchises now have the deadline of 17:00 IST on 10 December 2018 to submit their shortlisted players to make the final VIVO IPL 2019 Player Auction list.

Among the 800 uncapped players, 746 are Indians. While recently the nine state teams have been added to the new domestic season (2018/19), this is the first time when their cricketers have registered their names in the IPL Auction history. These new nine states are – Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Puducherry.

On the other hand, a total of 232 overseas players have registered their names for the upcoming Player Auction list. Among them, 54 are uncapped players and three are associate nations’ players.

Australian cricketers Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch have withdrawn their names from the upcoming Player Auction list. Maxwell has featured in all the IPL tournaments since 2012 while Finch has featured all the IPL tournaments since 2010.

Among the overseas players for the upcoming Player Auction, South Africa has the highest numbers (59) while Australia (35), West Indies (33), Sri Lanka (28), Afghanistan (27) etc. are following it respectively.

Talking about the associate nations’ players, it is only one each from the Netherlands, USA and Hong Kong.

Hugh Edmeades, an independent fine art, classic car and charity auctioneer, will play the auctioneer role during the VIVO IPL 2019 Player Auction on December 18, 2018. Since the inaugural edition, Richard Madley played the auctioneer role till the last edition.
