MS Dhoni, known not just for his cricketing heroics but also for his humility, once again won hearts with a touching gesture at the Mumbai airport. After Chennai Super Kings’ vital win over Lucknow Super Giants, Dhoni paused his journey to oblige a wheelchair-bound fan with a selfie—an act that quickly went viral and reminded fans why he’s affectionately called “Thala.”

Following their win over LSG, Chennai now gears up for a high-stakes clash against old rivals Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 20. As CSK arrived in Mumbai, Dhoni’s brief yet impactful moment with the fan stole the limelight. In a video doing the rounds on social media, the CSK skipper is seen noticing the elderly fan near the airport gate.

Without hesitation, he stopped, asked the security to hold up, and clicked a cheerful selfie with the fan, who handed him her phone. The smile on both their faces said it all. On the field, Dhoni’s return to captaincy, after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined with an injury, has been promising.

Though CSK has had a rough run this season with only two wins in seven games, Dhoni’s cameo in the last match gave fans a glimpse of his vintage finishing skills. Chasing 167 against Lucknow, CSK was in a tight spot when Dhoni walked in after Vijay Shankar’s dismissal. The equation read 56 needed off 30 balls, but the former India captain made it look easy. He smashed 26 runs off just 11 balls, including four boundaries and a towering six.

Shivam Dube played a crucial supporting role, scoring 43* and anchoring the innings with maturity. Together, they guided CSK to a much-needed victory with three balls to spare.

With Gaikwad injured and the batting order struggling, Dhoni’s experience and leadership will be crucial in CSK’s push to stay alive in the playoff race. If Dhoni can continue blending his on-field brilliance with his off-field grace, Chennai’s campaign may just find its spark again.
