During the final of the Coca-Cola Cup in 2001 at Harare, Sameer Dighe and Reetinder Sodhi shared an 101-run partnership to provide some respect to the Indian chase. The duo, however, failed to seal the chase for India.

Sourav Ganguly, the then Indian captain, had won the toss and chose to field. On the back to back half-centuries from Darren Ganga (66), Carl Hooper (71) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (50), West Indies scored 290-6 in 50 overs. With bowling figures of  7-0-31-2, Sodhi was the leading wicket-taker from India.

India lost wickets at regular intervals so much so that they were reduced to 80-5 in the 18th over. It was at this point in time that Sighe and Sodhi joined hands to score a decent total of India. Sodhi ended up scoring 67 (75) with the help of three fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Dighe remained unbeaten on 94* (96), including seven fours and two sixes. India ended up losing the match by 16 runs.
